North Carolina’s NC GreenTravel Initiative has recognized The Market Place Restaurant in Asheville as one of the top environmentally sustainable restaurants in the state. The restaurant scored the highest rating of Three Dogwood Blossoms in the state’s three-tiered recognition program, becoming the 64th green tourism-oriented business to be recognized by the new program.
According to NC GreenTravel Initiative Program Manager, Tom Rhodes, “The Market Place Restaurant is the quintessential “green” restaurant. Chef William Dissen has mastered the art of providing delicious, healthy food and drink sourced from local farmers and manages his restaurant using environmentally sustainable methods and equipment.”
NC GreenTravel is a partnership of the state’s Division of Environmental Assistance and Customer service; the Center for Sustainable Tourism; the NC Division of Tourism, Film and Sports Development and Waste Reduction Partners.
